My story

Hi everyone!  Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Screechy, a wonderfully handsome kitty searching for a new home.

My story starts in a shelter in rural Virginia that does not get a lot of foot traffic or adoptions.  My dog friend and I were brought there because our human was "put away." I'm not quite sure what that means, but my friend and I were very sad and I wasn't feeling well.  Luckily, my dog friend got adopted, but the people left me behind. I guess they didn't want a smart, handsome, friendly cat. Well, their loss.  Anyway, the Howard County Cat Shelter learned about me and my story and knew I was never going to make it out of that horrible shelter alive.  Thankfully, they rescued me.  I was skin and bones and the shelter said I was just stressed and not eating.  The volunteers knew they could give me lots of TLC and have me feeling better in no time.

Once I made it to Maryland, I immediately saw the vet, who unfortunately diagnosed diabetes.  The Howard County Cat Shelter isn't quite set up to care for a guy like me who needs extra medical attention and care, so I went to a temporary foster home for a few weeks and then to another.  I was hoping I'd be at that one a while, but the resident cat was not happy that I was there.  So I'm packing my bags again and am heading to yet another foster home.

Getting back to my health, now that I'm getting 1 unit of insulin twice a day and an all-wet food diet, my diabetes has been under better control, I'm gaining weight, and looking just as handsome as ever.  Please check back often to read about my new foster home and the progress I am making.  I can't wait to write and say that I've finally got my own forever home.  If you know someone who would love me, please have them get in contact with the Howard County Cat Club.

Until next time,

Screechy
