Some photos of me

My photo shoot went well.  The photographer couldn't believe how friendly I was.  She wasn't even here 30 seconds and I was her best friend.  She enjoyed watching me sit on command...c'mon that's easy!  She enjoyed my company so much, she wants to come back again.  I think if she didn't already have a houseful of kitties, she'd adopt me.  She said anyone who meets me would want to scoop me up in no time...I hope so.  A forever home...that's what I dream of!  Anyway, here's a sample of my photos.  I'll be posting different photos, and foster mom said she'll even take more videos of me, so check back soon to see more of my handsome self.

Until next time,

I'm a star!

Hi everyone!  I've been in my new foster home for almost a week now.  Foster mom is pleased to see my BG numbers coming down.  I'm sure the excitement of my move made them spike a little, but I'm happy, healthy, and full of life.  I love everyone I meet (I've had quite a few visitors).  Foster mom figured out I know how to sit on command!!  Big deal...after all I am a VERY SMART cat, and handsome if I do say so myself.  I've become a star as evidenced by this video on YouTube.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=294KiZ0ahoQ  Check it out...it will make you smile at the Amazing Screechy! I also know I'm a star because foster mom has someone coming to take photos of me tomorrow!  I must go prepare myself for my photo shoot...wonder what I should demand in my dressing room?  Bottled water, toys, treats, and lots of food!!!!  Check back for my awesome photos!

Until next time,

Moving Day

I moved into my new foster home today.  My new foster mom was amazed at how easily I made the transition.  She actually asked if I was going to eat...ha!  I LOVE to eat.  When I saw that can of Fancy Feast, I started talking real loud so she would hurry up.  Then I chowed down and licked the plate clean.  She laughed and told me I was a great cat. Well, I could have told her that!  I then went off exploring and found some toys and a scratching post.  I think I'll like it here, but I still want a place to call my own.  It's been a long day so I'm off to bed to dream about the day I can move one last time to my very own forever home.  Night, night!

Until next time,

My story

Hi everyone!  Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Screechy, a wonderfully handsome kitty searching for a new home.

My story starts in a shelter in rural Virginia that does not get a lot of foot traffic or adoptions.  My dog friend and I were brought there because our human was "put away." I'm not quite sure what that means, but my friend and I were very sad and I wasn't feeling well.  Luckily, my dog friend got adopted, but the people left me behind. I guess they didn't want a smart, handsome, friendly cat. Well, their loss.  Anyway, the Howard County Cat Shelter learned about me and my story and knew I was never going to make it out of that horrible shelter alive.  Thankfully, they rescued me.  I was skin and bones and the shelter said I was just stressed and not eating.  The volunteers knew they could give me lots of TLC and have me feeling better in no time.

Once I made it to Maryland, I immediately saw the vet, who unfortunately diagnosed diabetes.  The Howard County Cat Shelter isn't quite set up to care for a guy like me who needs extra medical attention and care, so I went to a temporary foster home for a few weeks and then to another.  I was hoping I'd be at that one a while, but the resident cat was not happy that I was there.  So I'm packing my bags again and am heading to yet another foster home.

Getting back to my health, now that I'm getting 1 unit of insulin twice a day and an all-wet food diet, my diabetes has been under better control, I'm gaining weight, and looking just as handsome as ever.  Please check back often to read about my new foster home and the progress I am making.  I can't wait to write and say that I've finally got my own forever home.  If you know someone who would love me, please have them get in contact with the Howard County Cat Club.

Until next time,

Screechy
